Manufacturing Execution System (MES) is the designation for a process-specific level of a multi-layered production management system and therefore responsible for production control.
The MES and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system work together. The ERP system forwards the production plan to the MES, which is then tasked with putting into practice the goals set by the company, with the help of a direct link to the processes.
An MES facilitates production management, direction, control ormonitoring in real time.
